Sebastian Demrey & Jimmy Lahaie have a common vision : bring a fresh sound to hymns by revisiting some of the most beautiful songs of the past centuries. Wishing to keep an organic sound, the Canadian duo focuses on acoustic guitars, mandolin, acoustic piano, string section, percussion and an upright bass. The project also features fellow Canadian artist Genevieve Falleur and a renowned Montreal cellist, Carla Antoun who notably recorded with Celine Dion and Cirque du Soleil. "With our music, we want to highlight the lyrical and musical treasures that have impacted our faith, our parent's and generations before us. Although our music was more likely to be embraced by an older audience, we strive to reach the youth as well so that they can discover these wonderful hymns and how they are still relevant in the 21st century." Among the selected titles include I Surrender All, What a friend we have in Jesus, Amazing Grace, Nearer My God To Thee, Blessed Assurance and many more. In the past 9 years Sebastian and Jimmy have released 5 French albums including a Christmas project and a live DVD. Averaging 100 dates a year, they extensively tour French-speaking countries around the world. After being encouraged by some industry friends in the US and in the UK, an English version of the project was made, the language in which most of the hymns were originally written. Hymns of Our Faith was then released, followed a year later by Christmas Hymns. After almost a decade of making music together, Sebastian and Jimmy have won 5 Covenant Awards (GMA CANADA) as well as being nominated 10 times. Their three latest releases have topped #1 on inspirational charts on iTunes Canada and France. Both Sebastian and Jimmy live in Quebec (Canada) with their families and serve as musicians and worship leaders in their local church.
