Since she was in her early teens, Mia Fieldes has felt that God was calling her to do something unique and special. She would write letters to Him at night as her sisters slept, praying with her pen that He would use her and that she could write songs about Him that would reach people all over the world one day. At the age of 17, she moved to Sydney and spent 10 years at Hillsong Church, writing songs that would go on to be recorded by Hillsong Worship and Hillsong United. She has also collaborated with a number of top Christian artists, helping pen many worship favorites such as Matt Maher's "Christ Is Risen," Vertical Church Band's "Spirit of the Living God," and Kari Jobe's "I Am Not Alone." With many years of songwriting to her credit, she is now embarking on a new journey, stepping out as a recording artist and releasing an EP of her own. Ashes, which is due out in May, is a 5-song project, of which "Fearless" is the first released single.
Mia shares, “For me it's always about serving others, bringing the right song for others to carry. I often tell people, I'm a 'Jonathan', not a 'David.' I just want to be no. 1 at being no. 2, so it's definitely a step of faith doing a project like this. Having said that, it's not really a transition from 'writer' to 'artist'—but more 'writer' who, for this season, is saying ‘yes’ to carrying a few songs."
We are pleased to let you know that we have just added the MultiTracks for "Fearless." The song is all about putting our trust in God, recognizing His faithfulness and acknowledging how He is on our side and will never leave us. With lyrics that echo 2 Corinthians 12, it proclaims, "I am fearless in Your presence. You're all around me, all around me. In my weakness, You are strongest, You surround me, You surround me," and goes on to profess how God has given us a spirit of power, banishing all fear in our lives. What a great reminder especially in the uncertainty of these times that He remains and that we always can and should rely on Him! Mia hopes her music will help people come to know God and deepen their relationship with Him. She shares, “I believe in the power of songs. I have seen them become such a massive part of my own journey. So many times when I felt like couldn't pray it I've been able to sing it. I just want to keep bringing songs that play a part in the journey of others … that in someway, the words or the melodies would be moments in their story of overcoming, rejoicing, trusting and knowing that He is everything He promises.”
