A Mirror Dimly is the newest album from Citizens & Saints, set to release on September 16. Frontman Zach Bolen shares, “A Mirror Dimly is the result of both personal struggles, and conversations with those in doubt post Mars Hill, yet inclusive enough to be a cathartic journey of listening and contemplation for any and all. We’re not the first people to go through hard stuff; we all suffer in different ways. There is hope beyond the foggy glass; the joys of being loved forever, free from the burdens of the wounds we all carry.” MultiTracks are now available from the album's three pre-released tracks, "Madness," "Relent," and "Day by Day."
The lyrics on A Mirror Dimly are genuine and raw, voicing real struggles and the triumphs that faith in God can give us over them. "Madness" expresses the doubt that sometimes plague us and the hope we find when we recognize that God's ways are higher than are ours. It acknowledges that we are not alone in our struggles and that He lifts us up and strengthens our faith as He walks through this life with us. "Relent" is a song that offers all that we are to Christ as it notes that the things of this world can never satisfy. It emphasizes that the way we can know true peace in the turmoil of this world is by surrendering all to His control and remaining in His presence, "I relent. There is nothing for me here. You can have it all, this life is not my own. You give life that is worth the loss of mine. I surrender all I have to follow You." With a driving sound, "Day by Day" rejoices in Jesus' grace and the way He sanctifies us, changing our hearts day by day. It declares, "I am not who I was. Now I am who I am, a sinner saved, a stumbling saint. Still I'm never alone. He's alive in my bones, the ghost of God sanctifies day by day by day."
