Let It Be Jesus is the brand new release from worship leader, Christy Nockels, recorded live at her home church, Passion City Church in Atlanta, GA. Christy shares, "Something so unforgettable happened as we worshipped Jesus together in wonder and remembrance." Having led thousands of young people in worship throughout the years at the Passion Conferences, Christy has brought a number of brand new worship songs to this release along with new live recordings of "My Anchor," originally found on this year's Passion release, Even So Come, and "Let It Be Jesus," from last year's Take It All. Each song showcases the sincerity and depth in worship that Christy has come to be known for.
"My Anchor" is a strong anthem that is based on Hebrews 6:19, which states, "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." The song praises Jesus for His faithfulness, telling Him that He is "My anchor forever. My shelter within the storm. You're my Deliverer, You never falter, Yes You're the Rock I stand on." Paul's words in Philippians 1:21, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain," provide a central theme in "Let It Be Jesus." Opening with a soft piano hook, the song expresses the desire to have Jesus be first in our lives and acknowledges that He is all we need. The song grows, echoing Paul's words in the choruses and crescendoing to the firm declaration, "Should I ever be abandoned, should I ever be acclaimed. Should I ever be surrounded by the fire and the flame, there's a name I will remember, there's a name I will proclaim. Let it be, Let it be Jesus!" He is the One we can rely on in both good times and bad, from the beginning of it all to the end, and the song eloquently expresses this with heartfelt devotion.
"The Wondrous Cross" is sure to become a favorite, sharing the gospel story and bringing alive all that Jesus has done for us, the chorus rejoicing, "Oh the wondrous cross where the Prince of Glory died. Oh the glorious cross where Your mercy bled for us. You overcame the grave, waking to a world You saved, oh the wondrous cross." The bridge pulls back to just vocals and piano, worshipping, "Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, worthy is the Lamb," and builds upon this theme, layering vocally and instrumentally as it grows before tying it back into the chorus. This is an incredible album, capturing passionate worship for Christ and the full abandonment of self and as we surrender all that we are to Jesus, we allow Him to be everything in our lives.
