Highlands Worship has a great passion for leading people to a place where they can encounter the presence of God in a deep and meaningful way. This is reflected in their new album, Here I Surrender, which features a diverse group of songwriters and vocalists that all serve in Birmingham, Alabama's Church of the Highlands. One of the project's lead vocalists, Nicole McLean shares, "My hope for this album is that people will truly encounter the Living God in a real and authentic way -- and when they do, they are encouraged, empowered, and transformed by His presence. I am believing that these songs will be more than just music and lyrics, but that they will literally be anthems of truth for people to declare in this generation and for many generations to come."
The album's title track, "Here I Surrender," tell of how Jesus left the glory of heaven and humbled himself on the cross, dying so we could live and not be separated from Him. The song marvels at this amazing display of His love and offers Him a heart full of adoration, "Now I can see, You now I can know You. Now my heart has a song to sing. Jesus, I love You. Oh, how I love You. You have my heart, my everything, My everything." With great passion, it goes on to declare our full surrender, offering all that we are to Him, "Here I surrender now and forever. All that I am all of me at Your feet. Jesus, my Savior now and forever. All that I am, All of me at Your feet." "You Will Always Be" focuses on the sovereignty of God and acknowledges how He is always present and we can trust Him to see us through any circumstance, declaring, "All my hope is in You. All my strength is in You. On the mountain, in the valley From the darkest depths into the sea. You’re sovereign, Lord. You will always be." "Alive In Me" rejoices that not only is Jesus alive, but He lives in us. It sings of the way He has completely transformed us through His grace and mercy, "Love came in like a tidal wave. Hope rushing in running through my veins. Jesus, You’re alive in me. Grace overflow like I’ve never known. Life breathing in speaking to these bones. Jesus, You’re alive in me, You’re alive in me"
