CATEGORIES: News, Home Page
Soul Survivor is a movement that was founded in the UK in 1993 by Mike Pilavachi with the aim of equipping young people to deepen their relationship with Jesus.  The first Soul Survivor conference drew just over 1,800 people and that number has grown to approximately 30,000 teens and young adults, attending five weeklong events each summer with the movement continuing to spread globally.  A number of prominent worship leaders have been involved in Soul Survivor, including Matt Redman and Worship Central's Tim Hughes and Ben Cantelon and each year the conference releases a live album that highlights the best praise and worship from the events.  Love Takes Over is Soul Survivor's latest release and it captures moments from the 2015 Soul Survivor and Momentum UK Conferences featuring worship leaders Tom Smith, Tim Hughes, Rend Collective, and Beth Croft. Tom Smith leads a number of songs on the album, several of which were released on his 2015 EP Sound of Heaven, "Take My Heart," "Dynamite," and "End of Me."  He also lends his vocals to an exciting cover of Hillsong Young & Free's popular song, "This Is Living" which will have worshippers rejoicing in what it means to find new life in Christ and declaring their decision to live for him.  Tim Hughes also contributes two songs from his most recent album, Pocketful of Faith, leading its title track "Pocketful of Faith" along with "Hope and Glory," a cry for God to move among the nations.  The chorus emphasizes our need for Him singing, "Only You can move the mountains. Only You can heal our land. Christ alone, our hope and glory. Christ alone in You we stand."  Rend Collective's anthem "Boldly I Approach (The Art of Celebration)" rejoices in the redemption we have through Christ and reminds us that we are free from condemnation, our sins erased by His grace.   The group writes, "Hebrews says 'We do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.' This is the Gospel. This is our Gospel! That even though we sin, because of Jesus’ sacrifice we’re invited where even angels fear to tread— into the holy presence of God."  Another strong track on the album is "Love Takes Over." Led by Beth Croft, this song praises the faithfulness of God's love and His presence in our lives.  It recognizes His constancy even when we stray faithfully calling us back to Him, "And love takes over. I can feel You here with me. As love takes over, there's no place I'd rather be. Woah, You are here with me. Woah, Jesus here with me." Blending energetic worship and reverent praise, Love Takes Over has much to offer for worship leaders.  Be sure to check out the entire album, now available on iTunes! Love Takes Over - Soul Survivor
