God's love is the focus of Seattle-based worship band Ghost Ship's new album, Costly. The album was created over the course of the last two years during a challenging season for worship leader Cam Huxford and each song mirrors his devotional time with God. He explains, "If we could tell someone one thing about God’s love in a line, what would it be? Well, it’s costly. God’s love is the most costly thing in the universe, because it cost God’s own life. We want to acknowledge that we’re just reaching for ways to show how costly God’s love is. We’ll always fall short, and hopefully that just shows how big He is. Something that big is impossible to describe.”
Ghost Ship originated in 2008 and their sound reflects influences that come from both southern regions and the band's birthplace of Seattle while their lyrics focus on pointing people to the Gospel of Christ. "Look What God Has Done" is a nice congregational anthem that rejoices in how God has saved and redeemed us, raising up a Church united to make His good deeds known to the world. Drawing upon the words of Ephesians 3, the song praises, "To God be glory through Christ our Savior's Church through all generations. To God be glory through Christ our Savior's work forever and ever." "Adoption" has a laid-back southern sound and serves as an encouraging reminder of the way God found us when we were alone and in need and adopted us as His own. The band puts a new spin on the beloved hymn, "When I Survey The Wondrous Cross" by adding a new chorus that praises, "Jesus saves sinners by His grace, by His grace." Worshippers will love freshness of Ghost Ship's sound and the message each song brings.
The album is now available on iTunes so we encourage you to download it today!
