McDowell's sophomore release, Arise, was recorded live in Fort Lauderdale with more than 2,000 worshippers in attendance. The album focuses on both knowing God and making Him known. "I Belong To You" brings to life a life-changing encounter with Christ and a surrendering of everything to Him, declaring, "My life is not my own. To You, I belong. I give myself, I give myself to You." "I Won't Go Back" praises all the ways that Jesus has transformed our lives. With a rich, full sound and heartfelt lyrics, the song would work well in many different setups, from smaller worship teams to larger choirs. The familiar worship anthem, "You Are God Alone" speaks of God's greatness and power, exalting His sovereignty over all things, proclaiming, "You are God alone. From before time began, You were on Your throne. You are God alone. And right now in the good times and bad, You are on Your throne. You are God alone!"
Withholding Nothing is McDowell's newest album. The cd/dvd combo debuted at #1 on the iTunes Christian and Gospel top albums chart at it's release in November, 2013. Featuring numerous guest artists including BJ Putnam and Joshua Dufrene, the night of live worship unfolded with the freedom and spontaneity that comes from following the leading of the Holy Spirit. “The DVD highlights 2,000 people immersed not in a recording but in worship, people who don’t know they are being heard by anyone but God,” McDowell explains. “We don’t get pre-claps, we don’t stop for any reason. The focus is 100 percent on God and what He’s saying, and the songs just happen the way they happen.” The title track, "Withholding Nothing" is simple and sincere, full of surrender and devotion. Expressing a willingness to give everything to God, it prayerfully repeats, "I surrender all to You. Everything I give to You, withholding nothing, withholding nothing." "My Heart Sings" truly captures the majesty of God, describing the experience of being so overwhelmed by God's awesomeness that we can't even put it into words. "Can't Live Without You" features Covenant Worship's Nicole Binion and reverently speaks of our need and desperation for God, exclaiming, "I need you to live, I need you to breathe. Can't live without you, can't live without you!"
On both of these albums, McDowell introduces songs that inspire worshippers to abandon self and focus every part of their lives on their Savior, encouraging them to come into God's presence and by doing so, impact their world in His name.
