Chris Renzema | Let the Ground Rest B Sides

Dove Award-nominated Chris Renzema releases Let The Ground Rest – B-Sidesrecorded in the famed Nashville studio The Smoakstack. The EP features five live studio performances, including three versions of songs from his widely acclaimed sophomore LP of the same name, along with two new songs thematically connected to the album: “Tear My House Down” and the American Songwriter-featured single “Mercy.” The new music is a window into how the songs were formed while on tour.

“What’s cool about working out of The Smoakstack is that we got to play together as a band. Making music as a group feels less mechanical and more human. A lot of what I wrote for the last project has taken on new meaning in the pandemic, and singing about waiting on a season to change or sitting it out through a hard time means a lot more to me now that it did then.”

Foothills Collective | Look No Further

“Look No Further” by Foothills Collective was written out of a desire for people to lay aside the temporary things in the world and replace them with the life that Jesus brings. "The answer to all of the problems, struggles, and questions we could ever have is simply Jesus. John 10:10 says 'The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.'"

Behind the Song | Sean Curran's "Ways"

Home, as far as I can tell, is too powerful a thing to fit inside a feeling, and too large a thing to fit inside a location. Home is a presence. A unique and most Holy presence that holds together every moment, every breath, and every thing. This presence of God is what we are made for, and it’s what we are made from. Or, as stated by the poets of old:

“In him we live and move and have our being.” Acts17:28

We all know the old proverb that goes something like this… “ we become what we behold.” Although it rolls off the tongue, applying this to our lives is a bit like a punch in the gut. It forces us to ask ourselves the often hard and embarrassing questions like, “How do I spend most of my time?” and “What do I give most of my attention to?” If the answers to those questions are in fact directly related to the person I am becoming, then I for one have a lot of work to do. (insert sweating face emoji).

The song “Ways” is an attempt to behold the right thing. The one thing; the only thing. It is a pursuit of the presence. It’s a declaration and prayer sung from the deep place. The soul place. The thing about the soul is that it can’t be tricked or lured into the fleeting and counterfeit things our flesh can. The soul drinks from the living water. My prayer is that this song would help us all sing from the soul. When we do, we find what the psalmist speaks of…

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of Joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11

Jonathan Stockstill | You Fight My Battles

Jonathan Stockstill's musical innovation and leadership style define the best of the new generation of church leaders. During the last 10 years, he has taken the church to new heights, opening five new church campuses across Louisiana, starting Bethany College and partnering with the Surge Project to plant 3,400 new churches around the globe.

"I tend to try to figure things out in the natural world. But I went through a season where it seemed like I was facing spiritual attack after spiritual attack. Through the process of writing "You Fight My Battles", God reminded me of three key scriptures: Exodus 14:13, when Moses told the Israelites that God would fight for them; all they needed to do was remain calm, 2 Chronicles 20:21, when King Jehoshaphat sent the worshipers ahead of the Israelite army and God fought for them, and finally, Acts 16 when Paul and Silas sang to God in the prison and God shook the prison cell in the midnight hour. This song came from the inspiration that if I just focus on praising God, he can and will fight the spiritual battles for me."
