Fanny J. Crosby has touched countless lives and has influenced the church for generations, having penned thousands of hymns including favorites such as "Blessed Assurance,""All The Way My Savior Leads Me," and "To God Be The Glory." Integrity Music's VP of Song & Artist Development, Adrian Thompson comments, “When you start looking at her legacy, you begin to understand how this remarkable woman truly lived her worship. She lived a frugal life, was diligent in writing, a blessing to the poor, didn’t build herself up... And yet, every living president in her lifetime wanted to meet her. The impact of her life and the influence of her hymns simply cannot be overstated.” To celebrate this incredible legacy 100 years after her death, Integrity Music has released a new project titled Blessed Assurance: The New Hymns of Fanny Crosby. This new album features never before published Crosby hymns that have been respectfully crafted with the help of modern worship leaders and songwriters such as Paul Baloche, All Sons & Daughters, Dustin Smith, Matt Redman, and more.
These worship leaders were given access to 2,700 unpublished and unfinished compositions which had sat hidden for years and breathed new life into 14 of these songs, blending in a modern sound while honoring the tradition of Fanny's work. “There are a lot of churches that prefer hymns and there’s a new generation discovering them for the first time as they seek deeper roots within a fresh, modern context,” Thompson continues. “With these two connections in mind, we’ve tried to keep as much of the original lyric as possible, engaging songwriters/leaders in the modern worship movement to help usher the richness of those lyrics into the modern era.” "We Are Waiting" is one such song, a beautiful anthem that expresses a longing for the presence of God. It is reverent and congregational and with deep sincerity, it worships, "Lord we gather in Your name. Your power, all Your promises we claim together. Bind us with grace, the body of Christ. All for Your presence we wait." Jon Egan and New Life Worship's "Not Be Moved" has a driving, tent-revival sound that worshippers will love. With great energy, it praises God as our rock and hope and how through Him, we will not be moved. Also included on the album is a soulful rendition of "Blessed Assurance" by Chris McClarney that retains the familiarity of the text though it presents it with a new melody and feel.
Blessed Assurance: The New Hymns of Fanny Crosby is a special project that brings alive the rich spiritual heritage of Fanny Crosby with songs that offer a perfect opportunity for corporate worship in any type of church setting.
