Phil Wickham has brought his own distinct style to traditional Christmas carols with his 2011 release, Songs For Christmas. "My biggest goal was to create something classic enough for people to play in their houses while they’re decorating their tree, yet unique enough to stand out from the thousands of other Christmas records out there," he states.
The album contains Phil's version of many well-loved carols such as "The First Noel" and "O Come O Come Emmanuel," complete with a backing choir and rich instrumentation, bringing new life to familiar favorites. "O Holy Night" is simple and expressive while "The Little Drummer Boy" is given a modern spin, really showcasing the vocals. His original piece, "Christmas Time" invites everyone to praise the newborn savior, come down to bring light to the world.
