Silent Night (Christ the Saviour Is Born)

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the famous Christmas Truce of World War I. On Christmas Eve, 1914, after another day of fighting on the Western Front, British soldiers saw their German counterparts put away their guns and raise lighted candles into the air. The men began to sing a familiar carol in their own tongue.  It was "Silent Night."
